Press Release
At the annual National Association of Music Merchants trade show (NAMM) in Anaheim, California (January 14-17), the Taylor T3 was awarded the “Product of the Year” by The Music and Sound Retailer magazine.
Brian Berk, editor of the magazine, presented company co-founder Bob Taylor with the award among a group of Taylor team members. “Although a difficult time for many, 2009 was a year of great product introductions,” Berk said. “Our readers have spoken to say Taylor’s T3 is at the top of the class. The award is voted on by retailers only, not an editorial staff, making the honor even more special. We congratulate Taylor’s T3 for winning our 2009 Product of the Year.”
The semihollow T3 and its Bigsby-equipped counterpart, the T3/B, was introduced at Winter NAMM 2009 and has since gone on to receive rave reviews and accolades from both the media and public.
The T3 features an expertly crafted body of sapele, topped with quilted maple. A neck of tropical American mahogany sports heftier fret wire for a truly electric feel, while brilliant chrome hardware adorns the T3 for a ready-to-rock look that screams electric, vintage and cool.
While the T3 offers plenty for any player on its own, the designers at Taylor decided to take the new line up a notch in a variation, the T3/B. Marking a first for the company, the T3/B includes an authentic Bigsby vibrato (model B70) paired with a roller bridge for high performance, giving players the freedom to set the intonation of each string, and eliminating the “dragging string” sound so commonly found in fixed bridges. The standard T3 model comes with a stop tailpiece.
The T3 features Taylor’s high definition (HD) humbuckers, which are specially positioned to capture the T3’s fidelity and range of tones. A three-way switch covers three standard pickup configurations, and as an added twist, a coil-splitting function is activated for both humbuckers by pulling up on the volume knob, opening the door to a palette of single coil sounds.
The T3 and T3/B are offered in four colors: Natural, Ruby Red Burst, Black and Translucent Orange, with tobacco or honey sunburst options also available. Strung with Elixir light gauge electric strings with NANOWEB® coating, the T3 comes ready to gig in a Taylor hardshell case.
