Music Retailers Vote Peavey Vypyr 'Amp of the Year' for Second Year

Press Release

PEAVEY INT'L. HEADQUARTERS — For the second year, music-product retailers voted Peavey's innovative Vypyr™ Series modeling guitar amplifiers the Amplifier Line of the Year in Musical Merchandise Review (MMR) magazine's annual Dealers' Choice Awards.

"The response to the Peavey Vypyr modeling amplifiers has been overwhelmingly positive, from music retailers to guitar players," said Hartley Peavey, founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics.

"We designed the Vypyr Series to offer the market something completely different, and our unique combination of patented analog and digital technologies gives guitar players an amazing range of tones and versatility, with highly accurate models of classic amps and effects. We're honored to once again earn our dealers' resounding approval for the Vypyr Series."

The Peavey Vypyr Series dramatically redefines the power and scope of modern guitar amplification. Vypyr amplifiers are based on powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC processors that enable highly detailed, accurate modeling as well as vastly enhanced flexibility and features than ever before available in guitar amplification.

Peavey Vypyr Series amplifiers feature up to 24 amp channel models—two channels of 12 popular amps for the first time anywhere—plus 11 editable preamp "stomp box" effects and 11 editable post-amp "rack" effects with dual-parameter control, global reverb and global delay. Players can add the optional Peavey Sanpera™ II foot controller to activate the on-board looper and expand the amp's 12 built-in presets to 400 programmable presets, with up to five simultaneous effects.

The Peavey Vypyr Series also includes the practice-size Vypyr 15 and Vypyr 30 combos; mid-size combos such as the Vypyr 75 and Vypyr 100; the Vypyr Tube 60 and Vypyr Tube 120 tube combos; and the Vypyr Tube 120H, a full-size guitar amp head.

At the 2010 Winter NAMM convention, held Jan. 14-17, in Anaheim, Calif., Peavey announced the new Vypyr 30 Head, Vypyr Mini Stack and Nano Vypyr. The Nano Vypyr combines 11 amp models and up to 32 effects combinations with AC or battery power to create the ultimate grab-and-go, portable modeling guitar amplifier.

The MMR Dealers' Choice award joins a collection of other prestigious awards, including Product of the Year and Instrument Amp of the Year from the Music & Sound Retailer, and the Gold Award for Overall Value from Guitar World.

Peavey Vypyr amps are endorsed by hard rock's top guitar players, including Corey Beaulieu of Trivium, Matt Tuck of Bullet For My Valentine and Phil Demmel of Machine Head.
