As a guitar tech I am asked t...Interesting article. As a guitar tech I am asked these questions all the time. I'm usually at a loss though. I can tell someone that bone will give them more sustain over a cheap plastic nut and that graphite is smooth and allows for catch free bend/trem action. <br /><br />The caveat here though is that I have no scientific research to back this up, only what I have read and experienced myself. We all know that measuring tone can be very subjective so when a customer asks for a new nut I can only give them fairly vague answers. <br /><br />Where do your assertions come from?
