TC Electronic PolyTune

In connection with the NAMM Show 2011, the annual TEC Awards show was held, and TC Electronic was awarded twice for the PolyTune polychromatic guitar and bass tuner pedal and the signal processing unit System 6000 MKII.
PolyTune won in the ‘Ancillary Equipment’ category, and System 6000 MKII was voted the winner of the ‘Signal Processing Technology/Hardware’ category.

PolyTune is described as "the first tuner in the world to offer polyphonic tuning which means that guitarists and bassists can tune up extremely fast by simply strumming all strings simultaneously, letting them get back to playing in no time," according to TC Electronics. System 6000 MKII is the successor to the original System 6000 for audio production and mastering.

The TEC awards – or the Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards – are designed to "recognize the achievements of audio professionals," and the annual event is hosted by the TEC Foundation. The TEC Award nominations are made by a panel of industry professionals, and the winners are chosen by members of various professional organizations and audio industry websites who vote on the candidates.

NAMM 2011 - Epiphone Releases The Nighthawk Custom

When a new guitar design is introduced, history says that guitarists don't immediately accept it. Such was the case with many, now iconic guitars including the Flying-V, Explorer and even the Les Paul. But ultimately, if the design is a great one it will stand the test of time and eventually, find it's place into the guitarist's arsenal of "go to" axes.

When the Nighthawk was first introduced in 1993, it represented a departure from Gibson "tradition" with it's 25.5" scale length and it's versatile combination of coil-tappable humbucking and single pickups. Now, 18 years later, guitarists who originally dismissed the Nighthawk as too "different" now recognize what a great guitar it really was and is! Great Tone Woods & Premium Construction!

The design of the Nighthawk is essentially a combination of a SG (lower bout and thinner body) and a Les Paul (upper bout). Like those classic guitars, it features a solid Mahogany body (with added "belly" scarf for comfort) and a glued-in SlimTaper(tm) Mahogany neck giving it a well rounded, warm tone with excellent sustain. To add brilliance as well as a smooth, durable playing surface, the Nighthawk Custom is fitted with an Ebony fingerboard. For even more tonal spice as well as killer looks, a AAA Flame Maple veneer is glued to the top. And don't forget, the Nighthawk bridge with it's "string-thru" body design ensures even more sustain and power. Versatility and Function! With it's unique pickup package that includes a full-size NHT humbucker (bridge), a NSX single-coil (middle) and a NHR mini-humbucker (neck) combined with a 5-way slider and push/pull coil-tapping tone knob, you have 9 different "tones" at your fingertips. From a powerful and warm humbucker to the unique clarity of a mini-HB to a thin, bright single-coil - and everything in-between - you can do it all. Killer Looks & Premium Features!

Epiphone is known for making great, affordable instruments and the Nighthawk Custom is no exception. One of the first things you notice is the gorgeous Flame Maple top in rich, see-through finishes and the mother-of-pearl "crown" inlays on the fingerboard. Premium 14:1 ratio Grover(tm) machine heads make for excellent tuning accuracy and stability while Epiphone's heavy-duty output jack and long-lasting 1" potentiometers make for worry-free opertion. The Total Package! Combined with Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by 24/7/365 Customer Service, you can rest assured that the Nighthawk Classic will give you years of worry-free performance.

So if you missed out on the first Nighthawks because you thought they were a little too"different." now's your chance to redeem yourself and pick up this NEW classic for a great price!

NAMM 2011 - ESP Announces A Ton Of New Guitars

Via The Official ESP Blog

New ESP and LTD Models for 2011!

Welcome to 2011. We may not have flying cars just yet, but here at ESP, we do have a batch of insanely cool new guitars and basses for you to check out!

New Signature Series Models from Metallica’s Guitarists
First, take a look at two brand new guitar models from Metallica’s James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett.

Click photo to enlarge.

Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. The James Hetfield Snakebyte is a brand new body style for ESP and LTD in 2011. It has a set-neck construction at 24.75” scale, with a mahogany body and neck, and an ebony fingerboard with 22 XJ frets. The Snakebyte comes with a bunch of high-end components, including Sperzel locking tuners, Schaller straplocks, a Tonepros locking bridge/tailpiece, and EMG 81 (bridge) / EMG 60 (neck) active pickups. You can get the James Hetfield Snakebyte both in ESP and LTD versions, and both are available in two finishes: Black and Snow White, featuring a pearloid snake inlay on the fingerboard.

Another limited edition Kirk Hammett Signature Series model is also being introduced in 2011. The ESP KH-2 SE and LTD KH-SE are special edition guitars that will be limited to just 100 and 300 pieces worldwide respectively. Highlighted by a brilliant Metallic Greenburst finish, the ESP KH-2 SE offers neck-thru-body construction, a 25.5” scale, an alder body, and maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 24 XJ frets (with frets 17-24 scalloped), and green pearloid skull inlays. Other high-performance features include Gotoh tuners, EMG 81 (bridge) / EMG 60 (neck) active pickups, and an original Floyd Rose bridge. The LTD KH-SE has a bolt-on maple neck, a basswood body, ESP tuners and pickups, and a Floyd Rose Special bridge.

SLAYER-2011: 25th Anniversary “Reign in Blood” Guitar!
Back in 1986, Slayer released their landmark album Reign in Blood that helped shape the sound of metal for decades to come. 25 years later, it’s high time to give that album the credit it’s due, and ESP is doing just that with the limited-edition Slayer-2011 guitar.

Limited to just 250 guitars worldwide, the LTD Slayer-2011 is highlighted with a custom graphic finish that employs elements of the cover artwork from the Reign in Blood album. Details include a special LTD headstock logo in Slayer’s distinctive typeface, pentagram-shaped neck inlays, and the Slayer logo inlaid near the 12th fret. The guitar uses bolt-on construction, an alder body, a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 24 XJ frets, a TOM bridge with string-thru-body design, and EMG 81 (bridge) and EMG 85 (neck) active pickups.

DevilDriver Gets Signature Models!
Mike Speitzer and Jeff Kendrick of DevilDriver have been long-time ESP players, and we’re proud to offer the new LTD MS-1 (Spreitzer) and LTD JK-1 (Kendrick) models in 2011. The MS-1 is a asymmetrical V-shaped guitar in a maroon sunburst finish. It offers neck-thru-body construction with a mahogany body and neck (ebony fingerboard), and features EMG 81 active pickups. The JK-1 is based on our EC shape, and comes in a dark see-thru blue finish. It also has neck-thru construction, with a mahogany body (flamed maple top), maple neck, and ebony fingerboard, and also has two EMG 81’s to rock your world. Both guitars have a DevilDriver logo inlay at the 12th fret.

To the Max!
Another guy who’s been playing ESPs for a long time, Max Cavalera (Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy) has new signature models. The ESP Max Cavalera EX looks great in its urban camo finish, and has all the features Max specified for his latest ESP axe (mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, Gotoh tuners, Schaller straplocks, and Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups). We’ve also released the LTD Max-200, the most affordable Max Cavalera model to date. It’s available in snow white and gives a lot of bang for the buck!

More 200-Series Signatures
Continuing our goal of providing excellent guitars for everyone, LTD has also introduced more 200-Series models that are affordable for any musician on a budget. George Lynch, who’s been playing ESPs longer than 99% of people ever heard of ESP, has a new Signature Series model, the LTD GL-200K (with a graphic finish based on his well-known ESP Kamikaze model). For those of you who want to venture into the zone of 8-strings, the LTD SC-208 is a new standard-scale 8-string model from Deftones’ Stephen Carpenter. There’s also a new 200-Series version of Michael Paget’s (Bullet for My Valentine) v-shaped model, the LTD MP-200.

New LTD Deluxe and Standard Guitars
We feel some of the newest LTD Deluxe and Standard models are among the best we’ve ever made. Let’s see if you agree.

The LTD Deluxe EC-1000T/CTM has that custom look that you’ve probably cherished. It’s a classic single-cutaway mahogany guitar with a traditional body shape, and is available in two finishes: Snow White and Black, with binding on the top and back of the body. Also, after many requests you’ve sent, we’re happy to offer two new H-Series models, the LTD H-1007 and LTD H-1007FR. Both guitars are 7-string versions of our outstanding H-Series guitars, with the H-1007FR also including a Floyd Rose bridge.

If you want a more traditional shape in a high-performance LTD guitar, try out the LTD TE-202. It draws from designs including ESP’s Ron Wood Signature model, and is available in two pre-distressed finishes: Three Tone Burst with a rosewood fingerboard, and Black with a maple fingerboard. Also new are the LTD EX-401FM (See-Thru Black) and LTD V-401FM (See-Thru Black and See-Thru Black Cherry).

Additionally, a number of current LTD models have also been updated with new finishes. Check with your local ESP/LTD dealer to see what’s new!

LTD Xtone Acoustics!
Yes, you read it correctly. After years and years of our customers asking us to take the high-performance look and feel of our electric models and make equally cool acoustics, we’ve delivered in droves. The LTD Xtone AC-5E, AC-10E, AC-20E, and AC-30E will soon be available at ESP dealers.

All of the new LTD Xtone Series acoustic-electric models are designed with a highly-playable cutaway mini-jumbo shape. The AC-5E offers a spruce top with mahogany back and side materials, and offers a built-in ESP preamp with EQ and tuner. Finishes for the AC-5E include See-Thru Black Sunburst, See-Thru Blue Sunburst, and See-Thru Red Sunburst. The AC-10E adds accoutrements such as block pearloid/abalone inlays, abalone purfling, abalone rosette, and white binding on the body, neck, and headstock, and is available in Black, Pearl White, and Tobacco Sunburst finishes.

The AC-20E and AC-30E both take another step up by implementing a B-Band Transducer pickup and onboard preamp. The AC-20E is equipped with a T-35 preamp w/EQ and tuner. This guitar features an attractive flamed maple body top, along with sapelle back and sides. Available finishes for the AC-20E include See-Thru Blue, See-Thru Magenta, and See-Thru Green. The AC-30E is highlighted by a beautiful quilted maple top, back and sides. It includes a B-Band T-55 preamp w/EQ and tuner, and is being offered with three finishes: Honey Natural, Dark Brown Sunburst, and See-Thru Red.

Bassists: We Didn’t Forget You
Our highly-respected LTD SURVEYOR line has significantly improved with the introduction of the new SURVEYOR-4 and SURVEYOR-5. These basses (4- and 5-string, respectively) offer a classic design with bolt-on construction at 34” scale, and an ash body with maple neck. The new models add white binding on the fingerboard and pearloid block inlays. The basses are available in three finishes: Black and Three Tone Burst (with rosewood fingerboards) and Snow White (with maple fingerboard).

Welcome to 2011... with ESP!

NAMM 2011 - Gretsch Unveils Custom Shop G6128T-GH George Harrison “Tribute” Duo Jet

Gretsch introduces the Gretsch Custom Shop G6128T-GH George Harrison “Tribute” Duo Jet.

Limited to 60 pieces worldwide, the guitar is a meticulously crafted replica of the all-black 6128 Duo Jet Harrison played with the Beatles from summer 1961 through spring 1963—a historic period that covered the group’s meteoric rise from regional popularity at home in Liverpool to its gritty rock ‘n’ roll “apprenticeship” in the seedy nightclubs of Hamburg, Germany, to the madness of “Beatlemania.”

The new Gretsch replica, built by master luthier Stephen Stern and his crew at the Gretsch Custom Shop, mirrors every scratch, ding and rust spot of Harrison’s guitar. True to form, the tremolo arm of its Bigsby B6C tailpiece has a black Phillips head pivot bolt, and the strap button on the lower bout is offset to accommodate the Bigsby.

NAMM 2011 - Orange Amps Launch The TERROR BA Bass Amp

Orange Amps have taken their breakthrough technology for the new Smart Power range of speakers and Terror Bass amp heads, and put them together to create two all-new Terror Bass Combos.

These long-awaited new additions to the Terror family are two world-class quality combos with distinctive Orange sounds. The new Terror Bass Combos come in two sizes and use the pioneering Smart Power Isobaric loudspeaker concept.

This ground-breaking technology is achieved by mounting two lightweight Neodymium speakers within the cabinet, one immediately behind the other. This means a lower frequency can be delivered and more output realised with a smaller sized cabinet.

The Terror Bass Combo TB500C (pictured above left) features a 500 watt hybrid amplifier - as in the Terror Bass head - and comes with Tube Preamp and a Class D power section which drives two 12" Neodymium speakers.

The TB300C (above right) is a 300 watt hybrid amplifier with Tube Preamp and Class D power section as well as two 10” Neodymium speakers. In keeping with the Tiny Terror concept ‘small is the new big’, these compact combos deliver more power, and more volume than any others currently on the market.

The Terror Bass Combo, with its characteristic Orange Amp great looks, rugged construction and portability means that bass players everywhere can now be part of the elite Orange Terror Club.

NAMM 2011 - Orange Amps Releases The TH100 Amp Head

The TH100 has exactly the same controls and preamp section as its smaller sibling, but when running in class AB1 (half power) it makes 35 watts on two output tubes, and 70 watts on four output tubes. Put it to full power (AB2 position) and the amp makes 50 watts with two output tubes and 100 watts with four. Being able to switch to half power means you can reduce the listening volume while preserving the power tube distortion.

Just like the TH30, the TH100’s design features the best of the Rocker and TH Series, with two channels. The clarity of the classic vintage sparkling sound on one channel plus the stunning overdrive / distortion with its British tone crunch on the other, makes this a very classy amp.

The new head will come with four EL34 tubes, four 12AX7 preamp tubes and a 12AT7 for the low impedance FX loop. It will also have four internal bias pots so the output tubes can be matched into the amp by a qualified technician. In terms of size and weight it will be comparable to the Rockerverb 100.

This mighty head delivers more tone, greater power and more features. With this knockout combination the TH100 will be the driving force behind your sound!

NAMM 2011 - Marshall Launches Slash Signature Limited Edition AFD100 Head

Marshall is proud to present the AFD100 Slash Signature amplifier: a dual mode, all-valve 100. head that captures the tone and spirit of one of rock’s most celebrated and sought after sounds: Slash’s guitar tone on Guns ‘N’ Roses legendary, Appetite for Destruction (AFD). Released in 1987, this highly influential has sold in excess of 18 million copies worldwide and is the best selling debut album of all time.

Using the original AFD master recordings, Slash and Marshall painstakingly worked together to replicate his AFD sound. “This is an idea I’ve had for quite some time,” the guitarist reveals. “So many fans have been trying to duplicate that sound. I thought, ‘who better than to really perfect it other than Marshall?’ We spent a lot of time together developing this amp. We stripped a couple of guitar tracks off the original AFD masters and basically got in there with a fine tooth comb so we could suss out exactly what made that sound the way that it was.”

After countless hours and several prototypes, the AFD100 was born with two distinct, footswitchable modes labeled #34 and AFD, both offering 100% pure Slash sounds. The first is based on the modified JCM800 2203 he’s used since the late ‘80s and had “34” stenciled on the side, hence the “#34” name. The second is, of course, pure, unadulterated AFD. “We used ‘Night Train’ as one of the man reference tracks and the amp sounds just like it.” Slash concludes. “I think we’ve been totally successful!” The amp boasts a mixture of both traditional and modern Marshall aesthetics – a unique blend of Plexi, JCM800 and Silver Jubilee cosmetics. In addition to its dual, footswitchable modes, the AFD100 also has the following features:

- Two inputs – high and low sensitivity
- Built in Electronic Power Attenuation. Controlled by a front-panel knob, this allows you to adjust the amp’s output from 100% to 0.01%, and anywhere in-between, without sacrificing the tone and feel of those all-important power valves.
- Footswitchable* Series FX loop with Return Level control.
- Valve Fault Indicator: meaning that if one of the output valves develops a fault, a visual indicator on the rear of the amplifier shows which one is working incorrectly. This “roadie friendly feature” will save valuable time getting the amplifier back up and running again, should a valve issue occur.
- Auto-Bias & Bias Current Trimmer to ensure correct power valve biasing and optimal valve life and function

*NOTE: A two-way, LED Footcontroller (PEDL-00054) comes supplied with the AFD100, facilitating switching between the #34 & AFD modes, plus FX Loop on/off.

To commemorate the 23 years that have passed since the recording of “Appetite for Destruction”, the AFD100 is Limited to 2300 units worldwide, 500 in the US. Retail price is $2899.

NAMM 2011 - PRS’s Recording Amp with Curly Maple Panels

As the world moves more and more towards home recording, PRS is offering the new full production run Recording Amp. This “universal” amp is ideal for recording and for producing heavy tones, super clean tones, and everything in between. External switches on many internal gain and tone components normally inaccessible on other amps provide a nearly infinite tonal and gain palate. Two distinct covering options are available for both the head and cabinet. Covering is available in both Stealth (black Tolex) and Paisley, and both options come standard with distinctive curly maple panels.

“When I came up with this concept, my goal was an amp that does it all in a simple and efficient manner – the results are highly musical,” said Paul Reed Smith.

25 Limited Edition Experience PRS 2010 versions of the Recording Amp were created for the open house this past September and were featured as part of the “studio-style” demonstrations lead by famed producer Peter Denenberg and guitarist Nick Moroch.

Recording Amp Specs

• 50 Watts
• EL34 Tubes
• Treble & Bass Channel Volumes
• Treble, Mid, Bass, Master, and Reverb Knobs
• Treble & Bass Channel Gain Switches

Recording Amp Specs

NAMM 2011 - PRS’s New 2 Channel 50-Watt Amps

Handmade in Stevensville, Maryland, PRS’s new 2 Channel “C” and 2 Channel “H” 50 watt amps feature two channels with independent master volume, treble, mid, bass, and gain controls with global reverb. The unique lead channel offers powerful, smooth distortion with liquid sustain, while the clean channel has shimmering, clean highs and extensive headroom but can be overdriven at maximum settings. Both amps feature effects loops with adjustable send and return and are fixed bias.

“These amps are an exciting foray into newer design, tone, and feature territories. My love for single channel amps guided this project from start to finish as I wanted to avoid some of the inherent compromises associated with some switchers. I worked hard on allowing each channel to stand on its own short of building two separate amps in one box and kept it as simple and intuitive to use as possible. I personally find it very addictive and great fun to play,” said Doug Sewell, PRS Amp Designer.

A proprietary Cinemag (“C”) transformer and 2 EL34 power tubes in the 2 Channel “C” amplifier provide aggressive vintage tones, making them extremely flexible and classic sounding. PRS 2 Channel “H” amplifiers have a more modern, “in your face” tone and feature proprietary “Heyboer” transformers. The “H’s” two 6L6 power tubes produce a fast, articulate amplifier well suited for today’s modern music where alternate tunings are a must. A combo version of the “H’ is also available.

PRS’s new PRS DB-2 speaker cabinet works well with both PRS 2 channel amps but is practical for all musical applications. This deeper 2 x 12 closed back cabinet features all-plywood construction and is wrapped in PRS’s heavy duty black covering. Speakers are Celestion vintage 30s (8 Ohms).

NAMM 2011 - PRS Guitars Expands Private Stock Acoustic Line

While acoustic guitars are a newer venture for PRS, the concepts they are based upon are as old as the company itself. PRS is proud to continue growing their acoustic line at Winter NAMM 2011 by adding to the already acclaimed Tonare Grand and Angelus Cutaway. The Collection Grand as well as signature model acoustics from Tony McManus and Martin Simpson will add to the list of instruments offered within the PRS Private Stock acoustics line.

The Private Stock Collection Grand combines the perimeter shape of a Tonare Grand and the body depth of an Angelus Cutaway. The rarest of materials including mammoth ivory and diamond inlay bridge pins are used in these exquisite understated instruments.

Bearclaw tops, exotic species backs and sides and gold mother of pearl custom inlays are just some the features available on Private Stock acoustics. These guitars serve both as extraordinary musical instruments and treasured heirlooms. Because the available materials are so vast and exotic, it is impossible to list all the options. It is however fair to say that the goal of the program is to collaboratively custom configure a guitar that speaks to the individuality of the owner, while maintaining the high standard that is the hallmark of PRS Acoustics.

Tony McManus and Martin Simpson, award-winning folk guitarists with world renowned talent, have worked very closely with Paul and the PRS Acoustic team to make their signature models. Each guitar pays tribute to both their talent and to their dedication as musicians.

“It’s an ironic thing to say about such a beautiful instrument but it becomes invisible- leaving the player to concentrate solely on the music- which is what it should be all about. The Tony McManus signature model is based on the Angelus model but with the PRS wide fingerboard. The bridge and fingerboard are in ebony, and the Private Stock wood choices are pretty spectacular. The guitar is capable of going anywhere I’m capable of going musically. It works beautifully as a solo fingerstyle guitar but if I need to flatpick, it’ll go there too. It’ll accompany songs, tunes…whatever I need…tuned high and tuned low, gently caressed or driven hard,” said Tony McManus.

“The new Martin Simpson signature model guitar is simply the result of the PRS team being truly attentive to the feedback of a player. I have felt privileged to be able to tell them what I think will make a better guitar for great acoustic playing, and they have listened to my input from materials to neck width and string spacing, pick up sound and inlays....and when the last model arrived, I was blown away by the results. NAMM 2011 - PRS Guitars 2011 Electric Line Up

New Finish, Pickups, Bridge, Tuners and Neck Shapes

For more than 25 years, PRS Guitars’ culture of ingenuity and continual improvement has pushed their guitar manufacturing bar to new levels. The 2011 PRS product line exemplifies this culture with the execution of a thorough plan to enhance each instrument. Innumerable changes have been put into action to improve the appearance, playability and tone of PRS instruments. Whether it’s the new 53/10 pickups, two-piece bridge, steel bridge components, new neck shapes, V12 finish or new PRS Phase III locking tuners, the amount of time and energy PRS has invested reviewing, enhancing and implementing high impact changes in their quest for tone is unprecedented, even by PRS standards. Whether obvious or subtle, every modification is born from PRS’s desire to give musicians the highest quality instrument to create their art.

“We learn, we update, we learn, we update...that’s the whole gist of the company. Everything we’ve learned is being applied to our model designs as fast as we can implement the changes without compromising the quality of production,” said Paul Reed Smith.

The 53/10™ pickup is the latest in the series of humbucking pickups that already includes PRS 57/08™ and 59/09’s™ (and the smaller aperture 57/08 Narrowfield™). First debuting as part of a limited run in the summer of 2010, the distinct 53/10™ is the warmest-sounding of the vintage themed family. The 53/10™ coil wire is made on the same machine that supplied legendary guitar makers in the fifties. Wire specifications for the 53/10™ are slightly different than the others and the wire is made using a special process reserved for a single-coil bridge pickup circa 1953; however, the 53/10™ is a humbucking pickup. Smith commented, “There are single-coil guitars from that era that are beautifully big, fat sounding guitars.” With that tone as inspiration, 53/10™ pickups are similar to the original 57/08™ but with a “sweeter” high end.

PRS Guitars new Phase III tuners are also new to the line up for 2011 and will come standard on SC 58, McCarty 58, ME Quatro, and JA-15 models. These very smooth high- tolerance pegs feature an elegant design with larger buttons, an open back, and closed housing.

The bridge plays a crucial role in the tone of a guitar by transferring the string’s vibrations to the tonewood. When executed well, the bridge will enhance the wood’s natural resonance. The PRS Tremolo with steel components offers a clear, expansive tone that sounds especially pleasing in guitars with singlecoil tones.

Previously only prototyped on Private Stock guitars, the new PRS two-piece adjustable bridge now comes standard on two PRS models: the SC 58 and the JA 15. When executed well, the bridge will enhance the wood’s natural resonance. This two-piece bridge has added weight and mass, creating more contact points, which, in turn, create a more resonant, musical instrument. Similarly, machining rather than casting, gives the brass and aluminum bridge a stronger sound. “I am calling it the ‘new two-piece adjustable sound transfer bridge’ – I’m very happy,” said Paul Reed Smith.

Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of our quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like “home,” as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. The new “Pattern Regular” neck shape is similar to the traditional PRS regular neck found on guitars made in the late 80’s at PRS’s former Virginia Avenue location. This new neck shape reflects modern tooling and programming that allows us to even more preciously shape and consistently reproduce our necks.

Perfected after years of prototyping, the new “Pattern” neck is an updated Wide Fat PRS neck style based on Paul’s pre-factory design. These necks were found on the instruments built for Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton and Howard Leese from the late 70’s to the mid 80’s. The “Patten Thin” neck follows suit and is an updated version of PRS’s Wide Thin neck.

Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood’s inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars’ new “V12” finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, “V12” is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. “PRS models with this new finish feel and sound like old instruments,” said Paul Reed Smith.

NAMM 2011 - PRS Private Stock “Signature” Limited Run Multi-Endorser Electric

The Signature Limited Run reintroduces the concept of the popular “Signature Series” guitar first offered over 20 years ago and adds PRS’s top tier Private Stock appointments and a list of influential artists. Limited to 100 pieces, the Signature model showcases a culmination of years of artist input and boasts PRS’s first ever multi-endorsement guitar Tom Wheeler, Howard Leese, Michael Ault, Davy Knowles, and Paul Reed Smith all backing the model.

“Every update the PRS Tech Center (PTC) has to offer has been included in the creation of this model’s specifications, and the artist line up speaks volumes of this guitar’s capabilities,” said Paul Reed Smith.

Highlights include a brand new pickup system with proprietary 408 treble and bass humbucking pickups which produce eight sounds on a simple switching scheme. A highly figured Private Stock maple top, and ME (Modern Eagle) birds with brown mother of pearl centers create an arresting visual impression.
